Danny Boyle Shares Sneaky-Peek of New Sex Pistols TV Drama

Legendary movie director Danny Boyle is currently shooting the new Sex Pistols TV drama and has released a couple of on-set photos.

Trainspotting director, Danny Boyle has shared the first look at his upcoming TV Drama about the  Sex Pistols, which is due to air on FX later in the year.

Entitled Pistol, the six-episode drama is based on the 2017 memoir Lonely Boy: Tales From a Sex Pistol by Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones. The drama will focus on Steve’s rags-to-riches origin story, bringing Boyle’s darkly confronting directorial style to a tale of a band that shocked a nation! Pistol promises to bring the Sex Pistols to the small screen capturing all the ‘filth and the fury’ of their short but explosive reign as the most feared band in the world.

With a strong cast – including; Australian actor Toby Wallace as Steve Jones, 1917’s Anson Boon as infamous Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten,  Louis Partridge as Sid Vicious,  Jacob Slater as drummer Paul Cook; and Fabien Frankel (The Serpent) as original bassist Glen Matlock – Pistol, has the cast to bring one of the most intense and exciting periods in music history spitting back to life.

The cast also includes Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The Queen’s Gambit) as Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren; Talulah Riley (Westworld) as Vivien Westwood; Dylan Llewellyn (Derry Girls) as Jones’ early bandmate Wally Nightingale; Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling) as a pre-Pretenders Chrissie Hynde; Emma Appleton (The Witcher) as Vicious’ girlfriend, Nancy Spungen; and Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones as punk scene icon Pamela Rooke, aka Jordan.

Moulin Rouge! co-writer Craig Pearce created Pistol and wrote the teleplay alongside Frank Cottrell Boyce (Sometimes Always Never). Boyle is the director and executive producer of the series.

A release date has not yet been set, but filming is currently underway.
