Green Day have released a special edition of Insomniac to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of their classic 1995 release.
Insomniac was Green Day’s fourth studio album and captured the band in their punk rock prime. Taking a heavier punk direction to their mega-hit album Dookie, the band ran with their rising commercial success producing an album embracing their punk rock roots.
With five singles released from the album including Geek Stink Breath, Stuck With Me and and fan favourite dual release Brain Stew/Jaded, the album peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 charts and still remains a popular album amongst fans today.
The 25th anniversary vinyl release of Insomniac includes a host of previously unreleased live tracks. There is also a limited-edition translucent orange vinyl double LP, plus an additional LP with eight rare or never previously released live tracks from the bands 1996 Prague show at Sportovni Hala. You can watch videos from the performance on Green Day’s official YouTube page.
The limited edition also includes the cover art by artist Winston Smith, printed on prismatic silver foil. All live tracks are from the Prague show of the Insomniac World Tour on March 26, 1996, and the flip of the live LP is an etched b-side.
Insomniac’s 25th Anniversary release was set to be celebrated in October last year but with Corona Virus pulling the plug on life as we knew it the album’s release has been delayed til now.

Everyone should have a soundtrack playing loudly in the background of their life. I was born moshing to my own beat and have never swayed from my love of music. Spreading my passion through the written word is my soul’s purpose. My punk heart beats loudly with the rhythm of my rock soul. I plan to continue to mosh like no one gives a shit.
