With over three million streams of their last single Blah, Blah, Blah, this is one London punk band you should keep an eye on!
The Oozes is a band you need to check out. They released their debut EP last summer, and it was an instant hit, with the most notable single from the EP ‘Blah Blah Blah’ hitting over three million streams.
The band are currently teasing their fans with snippets of their latest single Bitchboy (which is being released on May 21st) across their social media.
“A punchy, whimsical punk song, Bitchboy is an unmissable release,” the band’s statement reads. With the snippet on their TikTok garnering over 1.8 million listens so far it looks as though Bitchboy is gonna make even bigger waves in the Alt, Punk and Queer-Core scenes.
With Blah Blah Blah’s huge Spotify numbers it comes as no surprise that there is so much excitement surrounding their next release.
Comprised of members Tom Gilbert (He/Him) on vocals, Ciara Clarke (They/Them) on bass, Cherry Cicely (She/Her) on guitar and Olly Chrich (He/Him) on drums – The Oozes have been honing their DIY Punk sound since 2018.
Gilbert’s writing is very much inspired by his politics and his experiences as a queer, trans man growing up under a Tory government. It is unapologetic and uncensored; something incredibly welcomed in times of such political unrest.
The Oozes’ releases are all currently independent and – due to the pandemic – recorded separately in their bedrooms. Gilbert says “The pandemic has really been eye-opening as to how much we can do ourselves, we love the raw, uncensored energy we can get across being a DIY, queer-punk band and I think that really translates to our fans, it feels authentically us.”
After the unprecedented times of the past year, the band are itching to perform again and you can catch them headlining at Amp studios on June 25th for a rescheduled ‘Independent Venues Week’ show.
As the world opens back up, The Oozes are ready to take the live scene by storm and give their newly found fans an unforgettable experience, and Bitchboy is certain to become a firm live favourite!
