Billie Joe Armstrong has taken to Instagram, hinting that new music headed our way!
The freshly bleached Green Day frontman has sent out a mere morsel of a new song, but it’s enough to whip fans into a frenzy. Armstrong introduces the snippet saying; “Nice little intro here, check it out.”
Sitting in his studio the frontman plays a catchy opening for a few seconds. The camera then turns to a bearded, bespecaled and blonded Armstrong, looking more than pleased with himself.
In an interview with Kerrang, last November Armstrong said: “With the new stuff that I’m writing, I don’t know – a lot of it is kind of more self-deprecating and funny. Not that I’m doing a comedy record or anything. On the one hand, it feels autobiographical and funny, but on the other, when you look at it, you can put a social commentary twist to it.”
Armstrong kept himself busy through the pandemic with his No Fun Monday’s cover sessions giving the fans and Armstrong himself a much needed musical outlet. Billie Joe covered favourite tracks from his life, including a collaboration with Susanna Hoffs from The Bangles on Manic Monday. The tracks are available on his No Fun Mondays LP.
