New Releases

UK punks Witch Fever release scorching new single ‘Reincarnate’.

Witch Fever has inked a deal with Sony imprint Music For Nations, announced a slew of tour dates – including shows with Idles – and put out a scorching new single.

On ‘Reincarnate’, the self-described ‘doom punk’ quartet combines the attack of early Grunge (think ‘Bleach‘ or ‘Pretty on the Inside‘) with a dose of Black Sabbath’s darkness. The song’s post-breakup independence theme has then been set to a video exploring womxn’s desires and fetishes.

‘Reincarnate’ was recorded last year with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano, best known for his rock and metal work with bands like Ulver and Ghost, and Witch Fever promise further tracks from those sessions will follow in the coming months.

The band’s calendar also features a slew of UK festival slots this year, including stops at Truck Festival in Oxfordshire, The Wave Before The Kick In The Chest in Leeds and Liverpool’s Futurama Festival.

They’ll then be taking their live show on the road in 2022, joining Idles at London’s Brixton Academy and on European dates, as well as supporting New York post-punkers Bambara on some of their Europe dates.

Witch Fever were formed four years ago through mutual friends and their line-up has since coalesced around singer Amy Walpole, Alex Thompson on bass and backing vocals, guitarist Alisha Yarwood and Annabelle Joyce on drums.

Amy said: “We’re not here to say, ‘This is what you need to do with your life – we just want to make angry music and make sure we don’t take any shit from people who give us shit.”

After releasing ‘Berzerk(h)er’ on Veen Records in 2019, Witch Fever’s Reincarnate comes out on Music For Nations, the Sony Music label that’s also home to Canadian punks Three Days Grace, industrial noise-punk duo Never Not Nothing and prog-metal titans Tool.
