With a new surge in Covid-19 cases in due to the new Delta variant, Oaklahoma indoor music venues require proof of vaccination before entry.
Punk legends Green Day have announced a last-minute show at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa tonight, playing for a vaccinated-only crowd. The band has called the show a warm-up gig for their Hella Mega Tour, which kicks off In Dallas this Saturday.
“It’s going down in Tulsa tomorrow night,” Green Day said in a recent post . ?“We’re doing a surprise warm-up show at Cain’s Ballroom!! Tickets are on sale now.
Despite the last-minute call, alongside the need for anyone attending to be immunised, the show sold out in a flash.
With the new Delta variant proving to be the latest stick in the wheel for the long awaiting touring cycle to begin, Oaklahoma fans will need to provide proof of vaccination to attend the show. The date of the last injection must be no later than 6th July.
In a press release, the band stated: “We’ve been asked to do this as a fully vaccinated show. All attendees must be at least 12 years old with a photo ID and official vaccination card.”
According to CDC data, only 39% of Oklahoma residents are fully immunised despite health officials’ pleas. This reluctance to vaccinate against the virus could see a rise in vaccinated only events, not only in the ‘Sooner’ state but across the country.
