The Aussie punk rocker’s tour dates impacted by that damn virus thing!
As Covid lockdowns in Australia continue to wreak more havoc than Wally Meanie at a wine tasting, The Meanies have had to rejig their tour dates. The latest two postponed shows are this week’s gigs in Ballarat and Macedon in New South Wales, which have now been moved to November. Tickets for the rescheduled shows will of course remain valid and refunds can also be arranged at the point of purchase for those who are unable to attend.
The tour, that was due to start in June, is now set to start with a rescheduled Geelong show in August. The tour will then be picking up in earnest in October.
What hasn’t changed is that DickLord is thankfully still the main support on all shows bar one.
The Meanies’ tour is a belated celebration of their ‘new’ album. Desperate Measures is a hard, fast and catchy onslaught of hard-hitting Meanies mayhem. It evokes the classic sound that made the band a household name, in all the worst Aussie houses, back in the ’90s. A sound that has influenced generation after generation of young punks ever since.
Accompanying the rescheduled tour announcement, The Meanies have picked another radio single from Desperate Measures. Sousa, is the album’s closing track and is a bittersweet power-pop-punk with a couple of killer hooks, fat guitars and some deliberately obtuse lyrics from Linky (Meanie) – check it out above.
