Cryptic Instagram stories and call outs for a new singer leave fans desperate for news on what’s next for Waax.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2014 with the release of debut EP Holy Sick, local punks WAAX have been building quite the reputation for out of control and fun as hell live shows. With sold-out shows across the country, an extensive fan following and debut album ‘Big Grief’ reaching #11 on the ARIA Charts, the band were set for a trajectory of success. They have taken the Aussie indie-punk scene by storm, their climb similar to that of DZ Deathrays and Violent Soho.
But, this morning, the band’s social media pages seemingly turned pink and entered a ‘cone of silence’ following a mysterious post looking for a singer.
Speculation is mounting that it’s simply to recruit for the recording of group vocals or ‘fan’ input for an upcoming single, but alarmingly frontwoman, Maz De Vita posted on her personal Instagram story, alluding to the fact that she might be done with the band – even though their Linktree is still featuring in her bio.
Usually, cryptic posts like this are a sign of ‘something big’ on the horizon for a band, but with the mixed messaging and fan responses, we’re not too sure what to believe just yet.
Rest assured, Punktuation will keep fans updated once we know more!
