Brisbane’s Bloom Festival returns in 2021 for a huge day of music at the city’s iconic venue, The Triffid.
It’s time to celebrate the return of festivals in Brisbane, Australia, and what better way to do it than with a free all-ages event! This year’s Bloom Festival has music to suit every taste, from power-pop, alt-rock to soul and rap. However, proudly waving the punk flag is Brisbane’s superb punk trio, Blussh.
“We lit up like three dumb jack-o’-lanterns the moment Bloom Festival invited us to play,” says Blussh lead singer and guitarist Kel Schinkel. “Not only will this be our first time taking to The Triffid stage but also our first AA festival!!
“With the spooky punk season upon us, we can’t wait to show all these young boils and ghouls what a BLUSSH-O-WEEN feels like. We may have a few tricks & treats up our sleeves as well! Can’t wait to see ya there!”
The festival, which highlights eight of Brisbane’s most sought after and emerging young artists, has been organised by Music Industry College.
Bloom Festival has previously spanned across various venues over multiple days in the heart of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. However, this year’s festival is delivering a special, limited capacity, post-covid return at one of the cities most respected music venues, The Triffid.
Bloom Festival’s focus is about bringing the community together to celebrate the music and creative industries while introducing young people to live music in an inclusive, all ages, safe space.
“All-ages shows are critical to the continued vitality of the live music industry. By introducing young people to the live music experience, bands and venues can potentially tap into a future audience,” says Brett Wood, principal and founder of Music Industry College and Bloom Festival.
“Due to strict licensing laws in Queensland, there is a lack of AA events, and Bloom Festival aims to address that by producing an event that is not only loaded with local talent, but it’s free entry too,” Brett concludes.
