Cherym say their aim to ‘normalise discourse’ surrounding abuse with their new single ‘Gone Girl”.
Hot on the heels of an appearance at Latitude Festival and their first-ever run of UK headline tour dates, Northern Irish trio Cherym continue their rapid ascent with a video for their new single Gone Girl.
The track is the last single to be taken from Cherym’s recently released and much-hyped new EP Hey Tori. which is available via Alcopop! Records.
The band was also recently announced as being added to the Student Music Network’s Student Radio Class of 2022, sponsored by Spotify UK.
Gone Girl is a track with a serious and heartfelt message behind it and highlights the importance of trying to get help when involved in a domestically abusive relationship. There are resource links in the video description to The Rainbow Project, and Women’s Aid and Men’s Alliance NI for anyone who is, or has been, affected by domestic abuse.
Cherym’s bassist Nyree Porter says, “We wrote this song about our own experiences in abusive relationships, whether that be emotionally or physically. Our aim is to normalise discussing the topic, so that no one ever has to feel alone.”
“This is a subject which is very close to us personally, and we hope that if there is anyone who has been—or is still—experiencing this, that you can find the strength to seek help if it’s safe to do so. Sometimes life getting better may seem like the furthest thing from reality, but it really does get better.”
Alongside the new single, Cherym are also pleased to announce that they will support Belfast rock band New Pagans on their forthcoming December 2021. The Irish headline dates with tickets on sale now.
