Naked Raygun Release Their First Full-Length Album in 31 Years

The legendary Chicago punks return with their sixth studio album ‘Over The Overlords’.

Four decades running, Naked Raygun is one of the most important bands in the history of Chicago punk rock. The band was initially active from 1980-1992, releasing five studio albums and often credited as creating the ‘Chicago sound’.

Following disbandment in 1991, Naked Raygun returned to perform a long-awaited reunion show in 1997. This would remain their last live performance until 2006 when the band decided to reunite for good. 15 years later, ‘Over the Overlords‘ has hit the shelves via Wax Trax! Records and the wait was well worth it.

Sadly, the album is the final record to feature longtime bassist Pierre Kezdy, who passed away from cancer in late 2020 following the completion of the recording process.

Wax Trash! owner Julia Nash commented, ‘Besides being an amazing record, the thing that makes us so happy about this album is the fact that Pierre’s first release was on Wax Trax! in 1981.’ She continued, ‘We are honoured to be a part of Pierre’s first and last release on the label’.

Over The Overlords‘ LP consists of 11 new songs with the CD format containing two bonus tracks: A remix of ‘Living In The Good Times‘ by Paul Barker and an unreleased live version of ‘Knock Me Down‘.

The current lineup consists of members Jeff Pezzati, Eric Spicer, and Bill Stephens, with Fritz Doreza stepping in to take Pierre’s place.

Over The Overlords‘ is out now via Wax Trax! Records and available to stream everywhere with vinyl purchases available for pre-order.
