Bob Mould has booked a new run of US ‘solo electric’ tour dates that will kick-off in February at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in Bloomington, Indiana.
The gigs will follow a 15-show run in the UK and Ireland as the former Hüsker Dü and Sugar frontman looks to build on his successful “Distortion and Blue Hearts!” two-part US tour.
“The solo shows are great for inspiring new ideas, sharing my current thoughts about the state of the world, as well as revisiting deeper cuts from my songbook,” he said.
“Many of the songs from Blue Hearts took shape during the January 2020 Solo Electric tour, and the positive feedback I received after those shows were key to the feel of that album. I enjoy the intimacy of solo shows, while maintaining the energy and volume of band performances.”
Alongside the tour announcement Mould, who has been clear about the need for his fans to stay Covid safe at his shows, shared a solo electric version of “The Ocean,” the finale to his most recent album Blue Hearts, captured at the Stoughton Opera House on October 16.
Mould recently performed a virtual set at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Fest with the actor, comedian and writer Fred Armisen, previewing that show with a performance of the Hüsker Dü’s classic “I Apologize”.
Tickets for Bob Mould’s 2022 US shows go on sale Friday 19 November.
