Aussie Pop-Punks Snark Debut Emotive New Track

Snark have fired-up the Australian airwaves with new their single’Weightless’.

Following a sold-out headline show earlier this year and their July lockdown anthem Pressure‘, Melbourne punk trio Snark has just unleashed a nostalgia-drenched, hard-hitting and powerfully emotive new singleWeightless. The band’s latest offering debuted on the country’s popular heavy radio show, triple j’s Short.Fast.Loud.

Weightless‘ is unquestionably their most impactful work to date. It’s a serendipitous tale of human connection, draped seamlessly over an instrumental that moves from dark and moody depths to soaring, hopeful heights.

Frontman Stefan Sepulveda reveals that the track is about connection, and how your relationships with those around you can define you.

The verse of the song is punctuated by darkness, self-doubt and self-sabotage, ” he explains, “but the chorus gives you that on-top-of-the-world feeling that comes from the love and the friendships that define us. I repeatedly reference the ‘avenue’, with the idea being that you can meet the people who will mean everything to you in the unlikeliest of places. You never know when or how these things are going to happen. There’s something beautiful about the serendipitous way people find their way into each other’s lives, and this song celebrates that.”

Last year, Snark unveiled three hook-driven singles, Wasted, Whatever, Nevermind, and Three Twenty-Seven leading into the release of their debut EP, Impostor. Discovered by Kisschasy’s Darren Cordeaux through triple j Unearthed, Snark has since teamed up with him on co-writing duties for the tracks ‘Pressure‘, and ‘Weightless‘.

Sonically, Snark observes the charmingly frenetic energy that defines California punk, with nods to FIDLAR, Wavves and blink-182, while bringing a distinctly Australian tone to the table reminiscent of local heavyweights like Violent Soho, Ceres, and Slowly Slowly.

Carving out a space in Australia’s booming punk scene, Snark is taking their angst-ridden, gleaming pop-punk tunes to new heights.
