If you need some new sounds in your life this weekend check out the Italian garage proto punk band The Brokers and The Wall Street Band
The Brokers and The Wall Street Band is a musical project by Giuliano Taviani, Carmelo Travia and Italian rock singer Diana Tejera. The band says their sound is a homage to garage punk rock with a ‘tip of the hat’ to groups such as the Velvet Underground, X, The Stooges, The Sonics.
Recorded in Rome at Didyme Records Studio, their recently released three-track EP was mixed in Trace Sonore and mastered by Luca Fareri.
The references in the band’s eponymous debut EP are very clear from the first notes: dirty riffs, a real punk attitude, all with a hint of ’60s ambience.
Just under ten minutes in length, the EP starts with the schizophrenic electricity of ‘Red Crow’ then moves into the almost dreamlike pop melody of ‘Koll Let Me Down’ and ends with the proto-punk edginess of ‘In The Dark.’
On a sonic path between Berlin Iggy Pop and the Velvet Underground (with more than a few elements of Los Angeles punk), The Brokers And The Wall Street Band intrigues and then convinces on the very first listen. Turn this mother all the way up to 11!
