Green Day Taunt Fans With ‘1972’ Teasers

Pop punk legends are masters of marketing building the suspense around new music.

There is no doubt Green Day are working on new music with their latest social media teaser, another clue in the mystery of ‘1972’. But what do the pop-punk icons have in store for fans? A new single? An album? Who knows. For now, we just need to enjoy the game and follow the clues.

The latest crumb on the ‘1972’ trail has Billie Joe Armstrong sitting playing a mysterious riff on his acoustic, contemplative look on his face. Meanwhile, in the split frame below, random shots of the band goofing about, travelling around and yep, cute squirrels.

The mysterious build-up follows a busy year for the band. Singles Here Comes The Shock, Polyanna and a version of Kiss smash, Rock ‘n’ Roll All Night (Live from Hella Mega), all keeping fans appetite satiated. They released Holy Toledo on the soundtrack for Rom-Com ‘Mark, Mary and Some Other People’ and thrilled fans with the new album BBC Sessions.

Regardless of what the band have coming up, fans are starving for new music and will eat it up.
