Punktuation’s Tracey Moyle takes a look back at 22 punk albums that helped define 2002.
Punk in 2002 was as diverse as the musical soup the world was swimming in at the time. The Billboard top three songs of the year consisted of Rock, R&B and Rap. Punk, as usual, was not paying attention to the ‘popular kids’; it was just keeping its head down and doing its own thing.
Pop-punk bands were starting to find their feet alongside those with hardcore influences. Industry staples weren’t fading away either; they kept up with the new younger brats on the scene and showed the upstarts how punk music is played properly.
We have put together just some of the albums celebrating two decades of influence. How many of these do you have in your CD collection?

More Punk Stories…
Everyone should have a soundtrack playing loudly in the background of their life. I was born moshing to my own beat and have never swayed from my love of music. Spreading my passion through the written word is my soul’s purpose. My punk heart beats loudly with the rhythm of my rock soul. I plan to continue to mosh like no one gives a shit.
