New Punk Releases 1st September 2023

New AA single from Problem Patterns

Release Date: 30th August
Record Label: Alcopop! Records

Belfast’s own riotous punk quartet treat fans this week to their new AA single ‘Lesbo 3000‘/’Poverty Tourist‘ AND the announcement of their debut album release for October. ‘Blouse Club’ will be the band’s first full length release out on 27/10 but in the meantime they’ve been doubly generous giving us not 1 but 2 new tracks. ‘Lesbo 3000‘ is a reclaims ownership over sexuality and ‘Poverty Tourist‘ takes aim at those who don’t have to worry about money but want to make themselves more interesting and in doing so, co-opt community resources. Acerbic politics by a band who aren’t afraid to call out shit as they see it.

Courettes release new single ahead of UK tour

Release Date: 29th August
Record Label: Damaged Good Records

They have just embarked on their ’12 gigs in 12 days’ run of live shows in the UK and yet the explosive garage punk rock duo The Courettes still found time to give us all a new track and video- ‘Tough Like That‘. It’s a retro-sounding feminist anthem celebrating the women that know what they want but also what they DON’T want (and how to get rid of it). It is taken from their latest album ‘Back in Mono B-sides and Outtakes’ which is available now. Not only that but there’s a new album in the pipeline for 2024.

You can order the album HERE.

Release Date: 28th August (video)
Record Label: Gare du Nord

Midlands post punk originals Cult Figures have released a video for the track ‘Mr Producer’ which is taken from their forthcoming album ‘Between Us and Heaven‘ out on October 20th. This is a really upbeat, melodic track that will be stuck in your heard for days. Check out the video which was shot in one single take in Borough Market, London, featuring shoppers unaware they are in a music video! Cult Figures were part of the Birmingham scene that brought us The Prefects and TV Eye and they’re sure to deliver the goods with their new material next month.

Taking Meds release new album 'Dial M For Meds'

Release Date: 1st September
Record Label: Smartpunk Records

10 years after forming and the NY-based band are still going strong. The proof is in the pudding- we’ve had a glimpse of the quality on the album from the singles ‘Outside‘, ‘Memory Lane‘ and their most recent- ‘The Other End‘. The band do 90s-influenced sound very well with nods to pop punk and college rock hooks and melody, a great accompaniment to Skylar Sarkis’ lyrics exploring an adulthood pursuing the creative dream. There’s honesty and humour, reflection and distraction all packaged up and delivered in 10 tracks of incisive riffs and punk catharsis.

Hardcore values and sensibilities combine with infectious pop punk tunes for Values Here- a new band led by Barcelona-based vocalist Chui and Youth of Today guitarist John Porcelly. Loud Sleepers unleash their debut album

Release Date: 28th August
Record Label: AndVinyl Records

New-to-us Seattle punk rockers Loud Sleepers have released their debut album ‘Anything’s Impossible‘ and take our tip- don’t sleep on this! Immense emo power, impressively strong rock vocals (and a fair share of ‘woah-oh-ohs’), and some nice guitar work make this an impressive debut. They can do pure punk power and gentle, swaying stadium anthems equally well. Tracks like ‘Tooth of Time‘, ‘Ghost Stories‘ and single ‘Sick of the City‘ are standouts for us but there’s talent in every track.
