Check out the lineup for Cro Cro Land Festival!

Sound the klaxon! You've got a month left to get your tickets for this fab South London punk fest!

It might not be full on festival season yet but as we slide into Spring, there’s still plenty of events and weekends that will cater to punk fans of all tastes! And just in case this one has not made it onto your radar yet, let Punktuation introduce you to Cro Cro Land!

Having kicked off pre-covid back in 2019, bringing life and music to a local hotel earmarked for demolition, Croydon festival Cro Cro Land is finally able to return in 2024. Taking place on the weekend of 13 and 14 April at South Norwood’s performance venue Stanley Arts, it looks set to breathe some fresh life into the South London scene with 40+ acts on the bill, including Mattiel, The Subways, She Drew The Gun, Buzzard, Buzzard, Buzzard and more.

A project led by Croydon residents and Croydonist co-founders Angela Martin and Julia Woollams, the festival was initially started to bring guitar bands back to the birth-place of punk.

Cro Cro Land’s 2019 debut was a corker with bands such as Blood Red Shoes, Nova Twins, She Drew The Gun, The Lovely Eggs and ARXX blowing the crowd away- the festival showcased the best in emerging talent, as well as some widely known favourites, whilst flying the flag high for grassroots music and gender balance.

Now, with festival bills typically controlled by big industry booking agents and a precarious live music landscape, it’s never been harder for new artists to gain the exposure they deserve. Which is why festivals like this are so vital.

Back in Croydon, self-funded and doing things on their own terms, it aims to give new bands and artists a platform to perform alongside bigger names without any of the complications or demands that can often come with securing festival slots. Whether or not they have an agent or a label, they will have been considered to play and will be paid fairly to do so; the focus is on the music and building a much needed network and sense of community for artists to spread the word and support each other.

And, by keeping ticket prices as low as possible, the festival is ensuring that people of all ages and backgrounds should be able to come and enjoy live music.

2024’s line-up includes over forty bands, artists and DJs. From 2000s indie legends The Subways, Heavenly’s Mattiel and Liverpool rockers She Drew The Gun, to bands on the rise like Berries, Fräulein, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, Noah & The Loners, Bugeye, Whitelands and Flat Party, there’s an incredible range of some of the UK’s most exciting live music on offer for all to enjoy.
