‘AD 2022 – Live In Manchester’ features original line-up of Dave Vanian, Brian James, Captain Sensible and Rat Scabies.
Two years ago The Damned’s original line-up got back together for a run of live shows. Now they’re releasing one of the UK gigs to preserve it for posterity.
‘AD 2022 – Live In Manchester’ documents the 3 November, 2022 appearance of Dave Vanian, Brian James, Captain Sensible and Rat Scabies at the O2 Apollo in Manchester.
Scheduled for release on 13 September, the album will feature a 21-track set drawn from the punk legends’ first two albums – 1977’s ‘Damned Damned Damned’ and ‘Music for Pleasure’, the only albums to feature the four founding members.
Ahead of that the band has shared the version of ‘New Rose’, originally released in 1976 and considered to be the first punk single ever released in the UK, that will appear on ‘AD 2022’
In the meantime the current line of the band – Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible and Rat Scabies, plus Paul Gray on bass and Monty Oxymoron on keyboards – is touring the UK in December, when they’ll be supported by Doctor & The Medics and The Fleshtones.
