Brighton LGBTQIA+ punk band Daffodildos release second and third singles

Soon after their first single, neurodiverse queer punk trio Daffodildos drop ‘What's Your Excuse?' and 'Never Enough' on the Not Saints label

Hailing from Brighton on the south coast of England,  Daffodildos have released three singles in just a few weeks! The lyrics of all three deal with important social issues, emphasizing a tendency present within punk since it began.

Their first single, No Pride’ was writen against corporate capitalist hijacking of LGBTQIA+ rights marches. Now, their second song ‘What’s Your Excuse?‘ attacks the meat industry, while their third song ‘Never Enough‘ is about alcoholism.

Guitarist/vocalist Emily Flea wrote the song based on her bad experiences with alcoholism. “Never Enough is a raw and unfiltered portrayal of the struggles faced by those dealing with substance abuse, offering a voice of solidarity and strength to anyone who has lost their way due to alcohol or drugs.”

About their second single ‘What’s Your Excuse?‘ lyrics, Emily Flea comments “It makes you question your motives for eating meat and dairy. It challenges all the reasons people give for not going vegan.”

What’s Your Excuse?’ might spark controversy amongst average consumers, but the urgency of our climate crisis and the need to address animal rights can no longer be ignored. With the undeniable rise of veganism over the past decade, bands like Daffodildos are highlighting the ongoing animal suffering that often goes unnoticed.
