Loose Articles announce ‘Kick Like A Girl Extra Time!’ tour dates and tackle workplace misogyny

A valuable 'in' for women and non-binary folk can be found with this kick-arse punk band!

Kicking off 2025 as they mean to go on, Manchester punks Loose Articles are delighted to reveal their new single ‘Guitars, Cars, Knickers and Bras’, and announce their Kick Like A Girl Extra Time! touring project for 2025.

Funded by Arts Council England, the tour runs throughout Jan/Feb/Mar 2025 across grassroots venues in the north of England. Loose Articles promote an alternative touring model, giving inclusive, intimate access and entry-level insights into the music industry. They will be sharing the secrets of what it’s really like to be in their shoes, and a part of the Loose Articles touring team, which includes female booking agents, crew, promoters, and management.

The band explain: “Across all the job roles that exist—from being in a band to being a sound tech, promoter, manager, etc. we want to encourage young female and non-binary people to get involved and feel like they can succeed in this line of work. Our song topics touch on gender roles and overcoming the struggles of being a gender minority in a male dominated industry, so why not actually practice what we preach and really try to make a difference?”

If you are female or non-binary, come along to shadow both the band and crew at soundcheck, and ask as many questions as you like afterwards. Your name will be added to the band’s VIP LAFC club, and you and a guardian/friend will be placed on a special VIP guest list that night for the show.

These special VIP tickets are free and available on a first come, first served basis. For a free ticket to a soundcheck and Q&A please send an email request with your name to: Alison Surtees at: alison@almaisonproducers.net

Loose Articles KLAG TOUR DATES

New single ‘Guitars, Cars, Knickers and Bras’ is the latest to be taken from the Loose Articles’ long-awaited 2024 debut album, ‘Scream If You Wanna Go Faster‘, released last year via Alcopop! Records.

Commenting on the track, the band say: “Skimmed off the top of shallow chitchat—‘I only watch blokes play guitar, women in knickers and bras’, over and over, ‘Guitars, Cars, Knickers and Bras’ was plucked from a workplace conversation about women in music, scrawled across the pages of the ‘Workplace Misogyny Diary’. The track points to the collective issue of not being taken seriously as a female musician, which is something we as a band have all experienced: ‘Are they your dad’s records?’, ‘Is that your boyfriend’s guitar?’, ‘You’re pretty good, for a girl’.”

Specialising in discordant, hypnotic repetition, tales of nights out, and radical politics, Loose Articles are a punk quartet with plenty to say. Their music speaks to all those determined to get through the age of austerity with tongue in cheek, and two feet firmly on the dancefloor.

Championed by Steve Lamacq at BBC 6 Music (where they’ve also seen strong support from Chris Hawkins, Tom Robinson and Amy Lamé) the band have also picked up love from John Kennedy at Radio X, appearing on the Evening Playlist, and have appeared on Spotify’s The Punk List. Support slots include: Gang Of Four, Thumpasaurus, and New Order, and Loose Articles have played at Long Division, 2000 Trees, and Rebellion festivals.
