American punk rockers The Spits are back, and they are faster, louder and better than ever!
The frickin’ awesome American punk band, The Spits, have announced their return – after a long nine-year hiatus – by dishing out thrashing, garage-punk mayhem on their highly anticipated and brilliant new album, VI.
The Spits focus on short, fast, loud, dirty garage punk rock, and they really don’t disappoint with VI – an album filled with classic style punk tracks drenched in fuzz distortion and vocal angst! The ten-track album is a blisteringly quick 15 minutes 44 seconds – it’s seriously not fucking about. The Spits make Ramones’ albums seem almost tediously long!

VI harks back to the roots of American garage punk-rock — stripped back and exposed in all its butt-naked glory. This album really is pure punk perfection, and makes you long for the return of the mosh pit!
I’m not going to write a long, boring album review – you just need to buy the LP, turn it up loud and listen to the fucker! You won’t regret it! And if you do (which I doubt), you’ll only have wasted a mere 15 minutes 44 seconds of your life. What have you got to lose?
VI is released today via Thriftstore Records.

I’m a London born and bred music journalist, a mediocre bass player and the occasional strummer of the guitar. In the ’80s I worked in recording studios and made a few records you’d probably recognise. I have written a couple of books and made the odd media appearance as a music commentator. I now call Brisbane home.
