Swedish Hardcore Punks, Refused, To Feature in New Video Game.

Refused new song ‘Black Dog’ will appear in new release video game CyberPunk 2077 along with the band themselves voicing and playing as the fictional band Samurai.

Refused have been busy this year recording songs for the upcoming video game Cyberpunk 2077, along with the likes of hip hop duo Run The Jewels, rapper A$AP Rocky and electro pop artist Grimes. The band also play the part of the fictional in-game band  Samurai. Earlier this year Refused released  A Like Supreme and The Ballad of Buck Rivers as Samurai.

The game is a sequel to the original game called Cyberpunk 2020 and takes place 57 years later from the original. It is due to release just in time for Christmas on 10th December and is available for pre-order now.

“I’m incredibly excited about having Refused on board for Cyberpunk 2077,” said Marcin Przyby?owicz, Music Director, CD PROJEKT RED. “I know for a fact there are a lot of fans of the band at the game studio, including Piotr Adamczyk, one of the composers working on the game, who came to me with the idea for this collaboration.

“I can wholeheartedly say the ‘punk factor’ of Cyberpunk 2077’s music is through the roof!” Marcin Przyby?owicz

“I’m very happy he did, because the massive riffs, powerful drums, and hard-hitting vocals the guys from Refused, deliver as SAMURAI, have blown me away,” added Przyby?owicz. “I can wholeheartedly say the punk factor of Cyberpunk 2077’s music is through the roof!”

It’s been a busy year for these Swedish hardcore punks with their new EP The Malignant Fire dropping on the 20th November. This followed the release of the EP’s second single Malfire four days earlier.

Frontman Dennis Lyxzén also recently collaborated with Slaves on DopeBill Kelliher of Mastodon, Richard Patrick of Filter, Walter Schreifels of Quicksand and also Daryl McDaniels of Run-D.M.C. for a cover of Faith No More’s We Care A Lot. They also teamed up with Brian Baker of Minor Threat to form the punk supergroup Fake Names. PHEW!

I’m sure the band won’t be lazing about in 2021 and we’ll be hearing a whole lot more from Refused in the coming months!
