UK Glam-Horror-Punks Havelocke Release New Single ‘Vampire Eyes’

Havelocke have come storming out of the gates in 2021 with their glam-horror-punk banger Vampire Eyes, a follow-up to their 2020 single Drowning and the 2019 This Is Havelocke EP.

This new single encompasses all of the throwback emo-swagger from their previous EP release, but Vampire Eyes mixes in a hearty measure of the theatrical thanks to their producer Neil Kennedy of Ranch Production House Studios. Combining a cutting harmony line throughout, along with a drum beat reminiscent of 2007, the music video (courtesy of Aaran Mackenzie Films) brings the track right back into the present day, cutting through with startling imagery.

With lyrics such as “Can you remember what the world looks like? ‘Cos I can’t, and I don’t want to”, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Vampire Eyes is an ode to the world changed by Covid-19.

However, vocalist Owen Cousins clarifies that these lyrics are merely a coincidence: “I actually wrote this song before anyone had even heard of Covid-19; I really wasn’t ready for it to become quite so relevant. Vampire Eyes is about isolating yourself from the real world and getting so used to being inside your home, that when you eventually step outside, it’s a real shock to the system, whether that is for better or worse”.

In conjunction with the single release, Havelocke announce their signing to highly-esteemed independent label Silent Cult, where they know they’ll make good company. Previously home to Palm Reader, and currently to Miss Vincent, Club Dread and Emp!re, the label will be a partner in Havelocke’s aim to be a heavy-hitter in whatever 2021 brings to the table next.
