Adelaide’s Alt-Rock/ Punk three-piece, Nocturnal Animals, came slinking out of the darkness after their release of 4-singles in 2020. They ended the pandemic year with a slow anthemic belter ‘SFOS‘ in November:
Nocturnal Animals continue their night stalking in 2021 with the release of their new single ‘Articuno Makes Waves‘ on February 19. ‘Articuno Make Waves‘ was a uniquely produced indie-rock track that is rife with punk-rock attitude. The upbeat drums and strumming on the guitar paired with bright melodic indie-riffs are quickly contrasted by melancholic sections of rolling drums and a breathy vocal delivery reminiscent of some 90’s alt-rock. Dylan Martin explains the meaning behind the track:
“The song is about a relationship falling apart. It was written at the time of the relationship but from the perspective of if it had already come to an end. The chorus lyrics really sums it up but it’s that weird situation when you know the relationship is over (or doomed to be) but don’t want to admit it yet.”
‘Articuno Makes Waves’ is out worldwide on 19th February 2021. Check out the band’s Facebook for tour dates in Australia.
