If you miss the days when blink-182 just made simple, catchy, pop-punk songs, you might wanna give this one a listen.
Blink-182 say they have had a hard time in lockdown but as previously reported by Punktuation Magazine the pop-punk boys passed the time in quarantine by recording a few new songs.
The new single Quarantine is, according to bassist Mark Hoppus, a song about “the sadness, confusion, anger and frustration we are all experiencing right now”
Drummer, Travis Barker’s is confident that that Quarantine is going to be “a Blink favourite. It’ll be like all our fan favourites. It’s incredible.”
Curiously, Blink lead singer Matt Skiba doesn’t appear on this single with Mark Hoppus taking over that duty this time around!
Travis adds: “The song was inspired by the quarantine and the crappy punk rock music we have loved to play since day one. All the drums are one take and I even sang some back up vocals. Mark sounds more pissed off than I’ve ever heard him and I really like it.”
The track is a a catchy pop-punk/skate punk ‘banger’ that would slip comfortably into the track listing of Enema of the State or Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. If you miss the days when blink-182 just made catchy, pop-punk songs, you might wanna give this one a listen.
Quarantine Lyrics
I guess I’m blessed to be so fucking bored
and hiding from this phantom antigen
that wants to send us to the morgue
Quarantine, fuck this disease
I’d rather be on Star Tours or stuck at the DMV
Quarantine, no not for me
I thought that things were fucked up in 2019
Fuck quarantine
Some people hit the bottle, some people hit the books
Some people storm the capitol, some second guess parenthood
It’ll disappear in April, just like a miracle
We don’t need social distance, we don’t need old people
So throw the shop doors open
Save our economy
We don’t need ICU beds or PPE
Quarantine, fuck this disease
I’d rather watch some magic or do press in Germany
Quarantine, no not for me
I thought that things were fucked up in 2019
Fuck quarantine
It’ll disappear in April, just like a miracle
We don’t need social distance, we don’t need old people
So throw the shop doors open
Save our economy
We don’t need ICU beds, we don’t need PPE
