Avril Lavigne Confirms Much Anticipated Seventh Album

Adored pop-punk icon Avril Lavigne has confirmed (in the coolest of ways) that her new album will be out later this year.

Lavigne confirmed the news via Instagram, but not in the usual way. She gave the scoop to a lucky fan who asked when her seventh album would be ready. ?“It’s done! Music coming soon. For sure summer,” Lavigne replied.

The last decade has seen Avril more focused on health issues after being diagnosed with Lyme disease and this album will be her first since the release of 2019’s Head Above Water.

That album was also a deviation from her pop-punk princess days, taking on a more ‘mature tone’ drawing on her resilience through a time of uncertainty for her.

Her new album, however, has the promise of Avril returning to her angsty pop-punk roots.

Late last year Goldfinger frontman John Feldmann, spoke to Australia’s Wall of Sound about working with Lavigne “I’m working on making an album with Avril Lavigne right now, who I just love. I love making this album, I love her, and I’m having the best time.”

When he was asked if she was bringing back her pop-punk roots, he confirmed with a categorical: “Fuck yeah!’

The new album isn’t a complete surprise with the singer-songwriter teasing fans with the hint of a new record for months. Avril has been taking to social media sharing studio snaps with the likes of Mod Sun, with whom she recently collaborated on the single Flames, and Machine Gun Kelly.

After having to postpone the 2020 European leg of her ‘Head Above Water’ tour due to the shit-fight know as 2020, Lavigne says she has plans to tour the UK this summer, pending the situation with Corona Virus!
