Pandemic go get fucked! The Irish folk-punk pioneers Flogging Molly are continuing their annual tradition with a St. Patrick’s Day celebration! The band has announced what will be an unprecedented Livestream event on Wednesday, March 17 performing from the iconic Whelan’s Irish Pub in Dublin, Ireland, in partnership with Bushmills Irish Whiskey, the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery.
Adapting to the ‘pandemic-norm’ way of celebrating online, Flogging Molly wanted their fans to be able to raise a glass and toast with a drink on the most festive of boozy holidays.
For the last year of lockdown, the band has been separated due to ongoing quarantine regulations. Flogging Molly’s Dave King and Bridget Regan have been in Wexford, Ireland, and the remaining members of the band have been in various cities in the U.S.
Committed to keeping their St. Patrick’s Day tradition alive, the band is converging with a full production effort to connect with a global audience in a way that is both safe and still very true to their celebratory folk-punk spectacle.
Frontman Dave King offered some insight to the significance of the event, “In any house, even in the darkest of times, there’s always a room, a room for celebration. In over twenty years together, this is our first ever show from the Emerald Isle on St. Patrick’s Day. Welcome to Ireland. Let’s celebrate! From our family to yours, Sláinte!”
Tickets for Flogging Molly’s Live from Dublin St. Patrick’s Day stream start at $15 and including with unlimited streams between March 17th-21st. The live airing, pre-show and after-show acoustic performance will be directed by Dublin-based director Richie Smyth whose resume includes work with the likes of U2.
