Die Toten Hosen have released their video for Respectable, the first single off the upcoming album ‘Learning English Lesson 3: MERSEY BEAT! The Sound of Liverpool.
Learning English is the third part of their legendary series of English language cover albums. The first two LPs covered the beginnings of punk rock, this album explores the Mersey Sound era.
The track Respectable was inspired by the version recorded by The Fourmost, an English Merseybeat band that recorded in the 1960s. The group were signed by the Beatles manager Brian Epstein which gave the Fourmost access to early Lennon–McCartney compositions and their first two singles were both written by John Lennon.
“This version of Respectable we found on the B side of one of the Formost singles, but the original is by the Isley Brothers,” Die Toten Hosen says on their Facebook page.
‘Learning English Lesson 3: MERSEY BEAT! The Sound of Liverpool’ will be released on November 13th, 2020 as a one-off, limited and numbered edition of 7,500 LPs and 20,000 CDs!
