With the hype of the most intense US election in living memory coming to an almost apocalyptic end, those mysterious, masked, ‘anonymous’ musicians, The Network, have dropped a well-timed single bluntly titled, ‘Ivankkka Is A Nazi’.
This track – The Network’s first single in nearly two decades – has directly compared Ivanka and the Trump family to the Nazis. The song doesn’t hold back in its criticism of the Trumps, even comparing the big-baby President himself, to Adolf Hitler.
The song opens with the lines:
“So many Nazis at the convention,
So many Nazis stand at attention
Do you see Donald?
Do you see Eric?
Ivanka?
Do you see Donald?”
Announcing their return to music on Instagram last week with the teaser track ‘The Prophecy’ The Network – a.k.a. (“cough”) Green Day and friends – have definitely given music fans something to distract them right when it’s needed.
No matter who the faces behind the masked musicians belong to, they are definitely keeping spirits high and providing some much-needed entertainment and a giggle during the ‘shit-show’ that is 2020.
And it seems there may be more to come with Warner Records, welcoming The Network to its roster of artists in a Tweet – a forthcoming album perhaps?
“We are excited to welcome @wearethenetwork to our esteemed roster. It’s not every day you have the honour of signing @greenday‘s biggest nemesis,” to which Green Day answered simply, “WTF?”
You’re not fooling anyone Green Day (except maybe the sore loser in The Oval Office) you guys totally are The Network. The only question is, who are the other members of the band? Come on, unmask yourselves! You know you want to!
