Pop-Punks Super American, release Yet Another Banger

The duo from Buffalo, New York release ‘Relax and Float Downstream’ the latest single from their soon to be released alum ‘SUP’!

Super American have released yet another corker of a tune from their upcoming album ‘SUP’.  “Conceptually I see the song as depression / fear / anxiety set to this hectic instrumental,” says singer Pat Feeley on the lyrics of the song. “

“Matt (Cox) made me feel comfortable saying things without thinking too much and I think for that reason it turned into something worthwhile.”

“The song sounds angry, but I’m not quite sure that’s it,” adds Matt Cox.” Ever have a cheat meal? Or a cocktail during the week? Maybe a cigar on the golf course? That’s this song. Enjoy yourself for once, do whatever it is you want to do, and own it. God forbid.”

The upcoming album SUP is correspondingly confrontational, less polite, and palpably angry. The record’s title—which the band describe as at once abrasive, confrontational, and casual —is a nod to the rawness of these feelings.

Written between multi-instrumentalists Matt Cox and Patrick Feeley, it’s about fear and the tongue-in-cheek inversion of it. Its seams burst with breakneck indie rock, well-caffeinated pop punk, and breezy emo that, at their heart, all prop up a central tension: life is a goddamn incredible miracle, so why do we have to feel so scared and shitty all the time?

The album marks the culmination of that friendship built on the ensuing years spent writing songs together as a means to deal with the desperate contradiction’s life throws your way. It’s a documentation of contemporary Western life: jacked-up, blown-out, bloodshot, confused, lonesome, searching, and hopeful.
