Merchants of Northern noise Heed Case are a duo composed of former long-time Angelic Upstarts guitarist Newts Newton & Northumbrian psych rock bassist, Si Cadelik. Their debut album ‘All the Rage’ is inspired by the work of Dr Stephanie Sarkis, exploring the themes of gaslighting & narcissism in modern society, amidst the current climate & growing trend of self entitlement. For a duo they make an immense and glorious racket – it’s classic Punk at its best, with tight, angry rhythms and raw vocals. They don’t hold back lyrically or musically and this is an album that’s on repeat in my CD player – and it will be in yours!

Pinhead Gunpowder's "Best album yet" - 'Unt'

Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day), Aaron Cometbus (Crimpshrine), Jason White (Green Day touring guitarist) & Bill Schneider (The Coverups) get together in between other band commitments – and new album ‘Unt‘ is Pinhead Gunpowder‘s first release since 2008. Yes, Green Day fans will love it, but it’s truly a project of love between these great friends and musicians. Talking Knives explosive 2nd EP 'Static Head'

Fermanagh, Ireland, Talking Knives are fresh, energetic and full of audacious and angry tunes, seven of which make it onto this their second EP ‘Static Head‘. From the riotous and rapid ‘Voices‘ with its white hot guitar riffs, to my favourite track ‘Mad With Power‘, a punchy, poetic piece of just under two and a half minute Punk perfection, the whole EP is an absolute gem of blistering brilliance. The Jackets return with groovy new album 'Intuition'

Swiss garage-punk powerhouses The Jackets are back with new album ‘Intuition‘. Formed in Bern in 2007, they are a fierce force in the global scene. Jack Torera on vocals and guitar, Chris Rosales on drums and Sam Schmidiger on bass deliver a fresh, bold mix of ‘60s garage rock, punk and psychedelic vibes, all wrapped up in their unmistakably unique style. The band explain; “Intuition is a core theme that pulses through our lyrics, our music, and how we live. It’s the tension between rationality and gut instinct that drives us creatively.”

Poets Corner's superb debut single 'Over And Over'

Straight outta North Lincolnshire, youthful Indie-Punk band Poets Corner share their banging debut ‘Over And Over‘ – a track about the struggle of coming to terms with your part in a relationship while blaming the other side. Lead vocalist Cayden explains “Making this record was our first experience of being in a recording studio, but that naivety worked to our advantage, giving the release a real spontaneous & unplanned feel.” The 5-piece have come up with a street-wise & edgy single with a lo-fi Farfisa style organ which brings a certain charm to the record.

Writing about my favourite bands and connecting with people who love music too keeps me more-or-less sane!
