The co-founder of the anarcho-punk band Crass has just released a very limited edition (300 print run) live ‘Crass’ CD. Get this on your Santa list today ‘cos it’s going to sell out!
Steve Ignorant of Crass has announced the release of a new live album. Called Live In Notts 2021 it was recorded at the Old Cold Store in Nottingham on September 24, in (unsurprisingly) 2021. Performed by the Steve Ignorant Band the LP comprised entirely of Crass songs from the early part of the band’s career.
Steve stated, “The pandemic had meant that the band couldn’t meet to perform so all rehearsals were conducted via Zoom, so the purpose of this show was to act as a live rehearsal in front of a small audience before performing to a much larger audience the following night at North East Calling Punk Festival in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.”
Other shows were planned but due to ongoing pandemic restrictions, these had to be rescheduled several times but they have now been planned to finally go ahead early in 2022… fingers crossed (full details below).
Steve and his band were so pleased with the performance at the Old Cold Store that Steve has decided to release the recording of the show.
On his Facebook page, steve says “LIVE IN NOTTS 2021 – Our very first gig [of the Steve Ignorant Band] is available now. The full set, 25 songs, all on this CD with no overdubs etc. comprised entirely of Crass songs from the early part of their career. Limited to just 300 the CD is packaged in a digipack with a 4-page booklet that includes photographs from the performance.”
Live In Notts 2021 is released on Overground Records in the UK and is a perfect Christmas pressie for all Crass fans! Order here!
