Post-punk duo Space Cadet have released their new single Start Running Away featuring Minor Threat and Bad Religion guitarist Brian Baker.
Space Cadet results from a long-standing friendship between Matt Hock and Dave Walsh from Boston punks, The Explosion. Start Running Away is the infectious follow-up single to Bad Luck, released earlier this year. The latest release from their upcoming debut album Lion On A Leash, due out March 26 via Wiretap Records. The album has been produced by The Bouncing Souls, Pete Steinkopt.
Their latest track has captured the purest essence of post-punks infectiously danceable appeal. Addictively melodious and full of catchy hooks, the addition of a guitar solo from legendary punk guitarist Brian Baker takes the song to its heart bursting peak.
The band have released a dreamy video clip with big retro feels, complimenting the songs post-punk harmony and captures its mesmerising beat.
“This video harnesses the power of dance and features a blistering solo by the one and only Brian Baker,” Space Cadet’s Matt Hock said. “What more do you need?”
Space Cadet came about when friends of almost 25 years, Dave Walsh and Matt Hock found they unwittingly had each been writing and recording eerily similar songs.
The long time friends were founding members of the Boston punk band The Explosion, but it was completely different influences driving them forward in their music aspirations. The music was characteristic of other genres they loved – post-punk, new wave, Brit Rock – not to mention their shared obsession with guitar pedals. From their respective homes of Clinton, Massachusetts and Brooklyn, Dave and Matt have created lush soundscapes (Forever for a While, Safe and Sound), dark synth dirges (No Accident, Lose Control) and anxious anthems (Scream for You).
What started as an accident is now on purpose. With enough material written for a full-length LP, Space Cadet recorded their debut album at Little Eden in Asbury Park in July 2020 with Pete Steinkopt (Bouncing Souls).
The album “Lion On A Leash” will be released March 26th via Wiretap Records.

Everyone should have a soundtrack playing loudly in the background of their life. I was born moshing to my own beat and have never swayed from my love of music. Spreading my passion through the written word is my soul’s purpose. My punk heart beats loudly with the rhythm of my rock soul. I plan to continue to mosh like no one gives a shit.
